Sounds like Calvin "Bud" Trillin, if he was a dope smoking poli-sci major in 1989. Although maybe that is where he got the "Bud" nickname.
I'd like to say I was going for that effect, but it's more likely that I was thinking of Larry "Bud" Melman instead. Sexually.
