Seven pedestrians were injured Wednesday afternoon in the Loop when wet concrete fell from the 24th floor of a construction site to the street, according to police and firefighters.
Firefighters? Wow, flaming wet concrete! Get Ronny Howard on the horn -- it's time for a sequel to "Backdraft." Not sure what to call it, though.

Did you just lose another kitty, or was I hallucinating? I'm drinking a lot these days, so I'm not sure. In any case, if so, my sincere condolences. If not, hoo-eey I need help.
Nah, that was the same cat ... the post displeased me, however, so I killed that. Dead cat nostalgia, who needs it?
I'm not drinking much these days, which is awfully boring. But my constitution can't take the booze so well anymore. Old age is catching up fast.
Anyway, yeah, Squeaky the cat died two years ago on 12/14. I hadn't memorized the date ... there's email in my archive about it. The deleted post was about things going wrong when I go on vacation. There's really only been about one disaster a year, which I guess could be worse. Last year the disaster happened the night before I left, for a change, although it was only property damage, so I dunno if disaster is too extreme a word or not. That was when the upstairs apartment flooded and the water collapsed my ceiling in the kitchen. Really a nice additive to pre-travel-anxiety. At any rate, the negativity of the post annoyed me, so I deleted it. Trying to lighten up a little bit in CBRAT land.
Wow! Were they knocked out by it? That has a seductively Pompei-like aura about it.
If you liked that, stay tuned, because I'm sure there's gonna be more stuff falling offa stuff in Chicago before too long. I'm kind of surprised there hasn't already been another such incident in the meantime. I, for one, would pay to see Jim Belushi fall off of anything lethally tall, for instance.
